Ok, so there's nothing cooler for a 8-year-old to create their own dance music? Well, video games are great, but playing the music loudly uCreate ranks with my testers.

Mattel has created an electronic soundboard mix for 8 + crowd. The Music uCreate allows DJs young backbeats layer, riffs, licks and runs along with mp3 samples to create a unique composition in all its (and, yes, these terms are defined music in the instruction manual for those of us who do not automatically know what they are).
Aspiring DJs can build their compositions starting with three different options Backbeats, riffs, licks and runs, connecting them all that creates the sound they want. They can then refine their compositions, adding effects and filters. A built-in microphone allows children to add a voice or sound recording which can then mix in his music. As if that were not enough, the whole system can be connected to a computer and children can add samples of your own MP3s and other files from the Web site uCreate Music.

I left several "children" aged 7-40 playing with the musical uCreate. The unanimous verdict was definitely positive. In fact, one tester couple walked around the house every day for two days playing his compositions everywhere he went. The constant dance beat almost took his mother nuts, but sure, the musical uCreate not accept headphones (not included).
Only turning the musical about uCreate and pressing buttons, my testers were able to create fun and exciting dance music. It was easy to experiment with different sounds and distortion, but the favorite feature was the internal microphone. The children would write a phrase, embed it in their songs, and then accelerate it or slow it down, all the while laughing hysterically. Along with the hardware, Mattel includes a software with the device to connect to your website, where young DJs can download software that contains additional sounds and send your music files. And if this sounds confusing, it is. It took some figuring I finally get the Music Mixer software installed, and when I did not think it was all user friendly. In fact, you can not create a song using the software, although this is not readily apparent when you look at the interface. Not to mention, there are still some buttons that do not have any content. Frankly, no 8-year-old I know would do anything more than press the buttons that are content to hear the sound options and upload their works so that they can clear the memory of music uCreate, freeing space for a new composition.

In my opinion, the children would be better to skip the entire software for anything other than upload your creations.
Briefly
After watching testers and using music uCreate me, I can safely say that when anyone can have fun with this toy, a true music lover could use the musical uCreate to its full potential. There are several levels of complexity than your average 8-year-old would not be able to use, but do not give children room to grow with uCreate Music, which is good. Our main complaint is the desktop software is confusing and not kid-friendly. That said, it was really fun just to mess with the music and create our own Dance Party USA. And while it is targeted to the 8 + crowd, even small children can have fun mashing the buttons to "create" music. With an MSRP about $ 30, it's a good price for the entertainment and creative outlet it provides.
